Have the Monday blues set in 🔵 ? It was my 1st day back at work after 5 weeks off, it was a serious shock to the system & an information overload - a rest & release is needed. * If you saw my last post you’ll know I’m looking to broaden my own creative outlets & the next 9 grid set is related to ‘colouring in’. It may seem indulgent to sit with a pen & colour in shapes but several studies suggest that Colouring In can benefit our mental health. From lower aggression & anxiety levels to higher levels of memory recall & information retention. Myself & the collective family went on our jollies to the rainy but glorious Ireland last week. In fact we were there to understand our heritage better as mama’s side were born & bred there, see the sights plus revel in the land of the Guinness. 🍀 * It was a holiday for being in the moment. What with purposely not taking my laptop, busy days, questionable WiFi & lively young ones - there wasn’t always the time to endlessly scroll. And it felt good. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But now it’s time to slowly get back to productivity & creativity. Do you have trouble slowing down ? * Something I have trouble doing is to properly stop & take stock. Being organised & productive are concepts I’m VERY slowly but surely getting better at especially as I’ve gotten older. I’m always trying to work in new routines that get me closer to where I want to be - functioning human here I come. * I’m currently a big fan of the Pomodoro Technique for productivity. Other loves include : - Using the Forest app, my Pomodoro Technique timer & keeps me off my phone scrolling - Once charged, unplug the laptop so you’re not constantly connected - Writing a to - do list & to keep myself accountable - Listening to easy or ambient music instead of distracting myself with TV - Create a diary & input all my goals / content / plans / appointment - attempt to work ahead of myself. - Tidy a little bit everyday so it doesn’t get too overwhelming plus it helps calm me - Put my ideas / inspiration / goals / timetable up on a wall so that it serves as a visual reminder [swipe for my current wall] * But that’s just me. I found this statement a couple of months ago & it really resonated with me (it made want to immortalise it in my own style) because I’m more of a procrastinator / thinker / planner rather than a just-do-it kind of gal. I have all the ideas but sometimes need an almighty push to get it done. Often it can get us stuck in a rut without moving forward & to be honest I’d rather make small progress than none out of my own fear. * Are you a doer or a planner ?
